Zu leben, zu kämpfen und wir selbst zu sein – Autobiografie
This book is only available in German.
Gabriela Brimmer campaigned tirelessly for the rights of "disabled people". Based on the negative experiences she had in various special institutions and at university, she demanded her right to education decades before the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was adopted (2006). She later wrote numerous socially critical texts and poems using her typewriter, which she operated with her left big toe.
She wrote her impressive story of resistance, her “fight for human rights” (Fritz Bauer), together with the Mexican writer and journalist Elena Poniatowska.
