Rosa Parks: Eine Frau mit Mut

This book is only available in German.

The book tells the story of Rosa Parks (1913-2005) in easy language. Rosa Parks, a role model for courageous, passive resistance to injustice, refused to give up her seat on the bus for a white passenger in 1955. In doing so, she triggered the bus boycott in Montgomery, Alabama, and became a heroine of the African-American civil rights movement. The story of Rosa Parks is still relevant today: the fight for civil rights is also a fight for human rights.

The very reader-friendly book in easy language is suitable for anyone who has difficulty reading for various reasons. Reading-motivating elements such as personal address, design, colors and graphics invite young people and adults to learn about history and politics without failing due to language barriers. The book also offers an audio version, so that you can discover the story of Rosa Parks by reading, listening, reading/listening combined or having it read aloud by a third person. The audio book is available as streaming via a password; the password is in the book.

The target group was involved in the production of the book. A young adult with learning difficulties checked the text, font, layout and design for comprehensibility and readability. The book can be read alone or in reading groups, schools and inclusive educational institutions as well as other institutions that create opportunities for participation.
